FAQ Overview

NANOROOF™ Caulk Flashing Q&A

What is NanoROOF Caulk

NanoROOF Caulk is a high-performance elastomeric sealant that adheres to masonry, wood, asphalt, metal, and vinyl, suitable for various roofing, window, door, siding, trim, architectural metal, and general construction applications.

What surfaces can NanoROOF Caulk be applied to?

It can be applied to masonry, wood, asphalt, metal, vinyl, and damp or oily surfaces, even in low temperatures.

What joint sizes can NAnoROOF Caulk fill?

It is ideal for filling joints and cracks wider than 1/16 inch, with excellent adhesion to most exterior substrates. For optimal results, joints should be a minimum of 4 times greater than the anticipated movement, with sizes from 1/4” x 1/4” to 1/2” wide by 3/8” deep.

How do I prepare the substrate before applying  NanoROOF Caulk?

Clean and dry the surface before application. Use a soap water solution, Xylol, or acetone for cleaning if necessary.

What are the application guidelines for  NanoROOF Caulk?

Apply the sealant with conventional equipment, filling the joint completely. Use an open cell backer rod to control joint depth and bond breaker tape in shallow joints to prevent three-point contact. Warm the sealant if temperatures are below 40°F, and avoid applying it on surfaces above 140°F.

Can NanoROOF Caulk be painted?

Yes, the sealant can be painted after 24 hours. If using a relatively inflexible paint, allow the sealant to dry for 3 days before painting. It is compatible with any latex and most oil-based paints, though some paints may crack due to dynamic joints. Refer to the paint manufacturer’s specifications.

What are the key features of NanoROOF Caul?

NanoROOF Caulk offers exceptional elongation and flexibility, expanding up to 800% with full recovery, superior ultraviolet resistance, and a non-stringing formulation. It is ideal for sealing around dormers, windows, doors, hips, rake edges, valleys, skylight frames, chimneys, foundations, siding, vent pipes, collars, gutter seams, ridges, sills, and wall flashings.
